I'm in Arizona. We are lucky and don't play the clock game here. I've lived in a lot of other states and changing the clocks throws me off for at least a week. It's very nice to live without having to worry about it.
I feel like it was originally designed to just screw with us. I think we would all be better off if the government just left well enough alone with the clocks.

It was an asshole mason (as in a real brick layer type) that started it, and since the protestants like to suffer for piety, it spread. Like your mothers legs.
