Econ 101. Subsidies increase aggregate demand which increases the market equilibrium price.
Go into those big box stores and see what people buy. Giant creme pies and bags of chips. Cookies that are enormous and enough calories for a grown man's whole day. Expensive garbage food full of additives to lull you into compliance. Waddle in wearing your mask while they take your food stamps/snap/ebt.
I would very much like to see EBT eliminated altogether, or sharply limited to healthy staples. Pretty much rice, beans, vegetables, unprocessed meat, or GFY.
I vote if you want to get government money for your food, you don't get to choose what you're given.
