Russian equivalent of the A-10.
Impressive to see them flying so low and yet so close to each other.
also throwing some flares at some point
ply low and the enemy has very little time to "lock" and fire, make sense
unless there is some sort of coordinated, electronic controlled firing
I saw that. Holy shit
Have to assume that they deployed the countermeasure flares because they were being tracked. I doubt they'd be using these while flying over hostile territory for no reason.
I always thought, it has to be a freaky feeling as a pilot when you hear that "You're being locked on by a weapon" alarm going off. As an infantryman, you don't know you're being aimed at until you hear the bullet crack passed you (or hit you). But these guys know they're being targeted with some huge missile, that if it lands, will probably destroy their plane mid-air. If they're lucky, they might have time to eject and parachute down... right into the loving hands of the Ukrainians, where they will be tortured to death.
Here's a video from Desert Storm, where an F-16 pilot is targeted and fired at by SIX FUCKING SURFACE-TO-AIR MISSILES. I forget what they're called, but they're huge, like telephone poles, launched from trucks: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUjX1RntqVw
Imagine the kind of weapons the Russian pilots will have to contend with.
Flying low looks cool. I like that music also
