Zelensky wants to exchange Belgorod in exchange for the opportunity to join the Alliance.
"We are ready to exchange Belgorod for Ukraine's membership in NATO," - he said in response to the relevant question.

Some time ago, the head of the NATO office, Stian Jensen, suggested that Ukraine could enter the alliance if it cedes some territories to Russia. But apparently, Zelensky has his own version of the development of events.
Later, Jensen corrected himself and admitted that he should not have spoken in such a way. At the same time, quite a few Ukrainian politicians are claiming the Belgorod region, which was allegedly settled by ethnic Ukrainians back in the 17th century.
