This article states explicitly what we have all sensed and feared to be the case -- doctors cannot be assumed to be competent these days. Although there is no mention of race in the article, the author does talk about lower standards in off-shore medical schools, and the tendency of the medical profession to "fail-forward" -- that is, to promote those who cannot do their jobs.
