When I was in central america, there were 3 currencies, used by (almost) everybody, starting with the cab driver, to give you an idea. You had the local currency, you had the dollar, and you had the "bolsita"/small pocket of cocaine https://search.brave.com/images?q=bolsita%20cocaine#56

You could pay with any of those, pretty much everywhere, of course you couldn't get the change on the dollar or the bolsita, either you leave the difference or you manage to come up with the required amount, that's all

And the bolsita, became a currency, just like the dollar or the "colón" (local currency in costa rica), because pretty much everybody consumed cocaine, from cab drivers to politicians, or knew at least one person who would be interested in buying some, or trading something/some service for some, like prostitutes for instance

There are options outside of cash, if anything that's what I'm saying. And we don't have control over cash ultimately, that's the property of the bank, we don't print it we don't make it come into existence, us, mere peons

How did people know they were getting cocaine and not tooth powder? Did everyone taste the little bolsita? That would get kind of messy after a while, wouldn't it?

If there's one thing you can hardly fool an addict with, it's his favorite product

The color, texture... They see stuffs you don't see
