I talk about this a lot with people who understand. It's really unnerving to see so many people who are otherwise intelligent under some kind of spell. I feel like this is probably how people that weren't going crazy during the Salem Witch Trials probably felt watching all their neighbors go insane about witches. For pop culture I compare it to the Star Trek TNG episode S05E06, "The Game." I feel like Wesley Crusher must have felt in that episode.
