The 15K deaths thing is a complete lie, home-slice.
But I did enjoy the meme as the humor it was intended to be.
15,000 is high, but 10,000 is accurate.
Why can't I corroborate these figures except on niche pro-Russian websites?
Here's what I do find that has great sources:

Does not come anywhere close to adding up to 15K. Or 10K. It takes a LOT of reading. You see Russian military separatists and Ukrainian military forces dying in skirmishes and conflicts. Very rarely do any civvies die.
It's a very long read. But the deaths do not come anywhere close to 10K. Or even 1K. And it is almost all non-civvies.
