At the moment, I’m not taking this 100% seriously. At the same time I am not completely dismissive of it, either. I’m closely monitoring the situation. I have seen a couple of empty threats already at both the Federal and State levels that never panned out, so I’m not going crazy yet.

The question of the "how to enforce" this inevitably lands on the table. There aren't enough cops to check every instance even if they dedicated their entire time to it. So, .gov will have to rely on the will of business owners for that, mostly. No doubt the big brands/supermarket will comply (until they start realizing it seriously hurts business, people might start to go mad at enforcers on a regular basis, troubling the necessary peace inside those consumerist temples)
And I've seen a couple of businesses not giving too much of a fuck about masks, they certainly aren't going to go out of their way to force you to wear one, to begin with

Well… It says vaccine passport for the French thing, but here in Germany, we have effectively the same thing.
Creepy testing site tents less than every hundred metres; to do anything (dunno about restaurants), you need a negative test, a vaxx or proof of recovery.

The French I know aren't really submissive… but this is concerning. Here, in their neighbouring country, everyone wears masks in every business. No exceptions. That's what I see with my own eyes. Me and my father defied last year for a while, but an old man called security and… we just laughed at him and went on. But later on they forced us to wear FFP2 masks and actual security staff was stationed at malls, you can see a female cop couple make the rounds around each store here daily and it's sickening. At our local store, I had a small chat with a disgruntled clerk. If only, one day, the government goofs up hard and everyone tosses their masks away… preferably before the elections…
We already managed to shut down a big business from building an outlet here to protect our local shops, I think we can do this.
When Amazon and co. drive out the competition, that is when we will live in the idiocracy.
