you can not put anything identifiable (to the caster) on the ballots. I think that a photo of the person and a scan of their id might be okay, but it couldn't be tied to the vote. once the ballot is scanned it can't be able to go back to the caster.
If there were to be mail-in-ballots then you would be giving up your anonymity, and this is okay, because those ballots are already not secret ballots (in violation of the letter of the law and spirit of the law).
Mail in ballots must go away. Overseas military and such exceptions should be it. They should be able to confirm their ballot was processed.
i agree, and situations where it would typically happen (like military) could still have the vote conducted in the same way (in person, etc.) as long as the deployment was not 5 people or something.
my point was that if there was mail in voting the secret ballot for those people is already out the window, and so their name would be tied with their vote in case there was an audit.
