This isn't a war though, it's a protest.

Most of the police agree with the protesters and are just there to watch for troublemakers. The protest going on on the streets of Ottawa right now is a test of the theory of democracy. We are taught to trust police to protect us even if we want to protest, this is putting that claim to the test. The first side to really get violent will be condemned.

I will admit i don't know the differences between one protest in canada to the next. I have seen that they're now arresting people, towing trucks, disabling equipment they think might be used in various other locations.

And to be clear, I don't think the flag stealer should've been gunned down or beaten. My disappointment with the man whose flag was stolen was his bleating like a retarded sheep, "get the police! help me police!"

Being a bigger man, using words as opposed to violence, and showing restraint are admirable. That's something we should strive for. Depending on your end goal ...what you want the outcome to be. It seems that his goal was to have the police come solve the problem he was incapable of solving. That's sad. If his goal was to get the flag back, he went about it the wrong way. If his goal was to make the flag thief look like a fool, he went about it the wrong way. If his goal was to hold the thief accountable, he went about it the wrong way.

He seemed to have bumbled into a good outcome, but didn't really know what he wanted or what to do. He was frustrated with the situation, and wanted the police to come save him.

The scale of this protest is unlike any other protest we've had in Canada, and the blatant lying of state media is more exposed here than ever before. All eyes are on Canada, essentially. Everyone on the streets is hyper aware of this visibility and are purposely holding composure to show the world they are not the irate ones.

The state media is desperately trying to find anything they can to smear the protesters, because everything they can find is being used by politicians to frame this as an insurrection, in order to justify their call for escalated force from police services at every level. Underneath this protest there is a huge "information war" where each side is trying to discredit the other, and the longer this drags on the harder it has become for the elite to control. They want so desperately to end this display so that individuals will go home and then they can do damage control. The longer this goes on with the peaceful nature it has followed, the more tyrannical these politicians look.
