I don't share his view that a population collapse would accelerate that trend into further collapse for much longer.
Say you have 10 million poker chips. If you lose half your pot 24 bets in a row then you still have like 500 poker chips.
So it takes over 25 generations to get down to extinction levels. And you'd have to assume trend repeats at least two dozen generations. That's like betting on red 25 times and getting black 25 times. Chances of that is 0.000003%
I don't know about you, but I bet 500 people could easily populate Mars in 4 generations if they started fuckin.
Peoples goals, values, and religions will change radically over 3 generations.
