Lol. I've noticed more of this recently. People trying to use fire extinguishers on fires that are too far gone. People seem to believe fire extinguishers can do a lot more than they're capable of. They're meant for small fires before they spread. Even your average extinguisher that is hanging on every wall at businesses only lasts about 6 seconds.
I was told by a fireman that if the fire is bigger than the extinguisher just close the door and call them. Don't even waste your time.
Never heard that but that's probably as good a rule of thumb as any.
Right and depending on the situation I might try anyways but that car fire was obviously way out of control.
What if the they are in the room the fire is in?
If you are trapped in the room then I suppose you don't have any choice.
Another thing that the fireman said was fire extinguishers should be near doors. That way you are close to an egress if needed.
