I'm in the woods by a lake, but I have neighbors not too far away and I'm about 10 miles as the crow flies from a decent size town. No farmland within a few miles. I trust that the groundwater here has been undisturbed for at least 10,000 years. We have a softener because the water has a bit of iron in it, and an RO unit for drinking water.
I have a filter on my shower and I drink distilled water from plastic jugs in a vitamin mix. I could still be doing better with water, though. I'm renting, so I'm not going to install anything major.
You're doing fine. There are portable reverse osmosis units available. It would pay for itself over time by not having to buy water.
I was looking at the Alexapure unit. I'm not sure if I would have a place to put it. I suppose I could buy something to put it on here. I live with 2 other people here, so everything isn't under my control and organization.
Why are you using plastic jugs should try and switch it to glass.
Whole Foods has some water machine you can bring glass jugs to. I would have to buy such jugs and go there and get it. It's not too conveniently located with the traffic here and all.
