Granted, the testing in this video was done on commercial as opposed to consumer toilets. I don't ever touch the toilet more than necessary in public.

I do however close the lid on my own before flushing. Especially in the bathroom where by toothbrush is kept. Thoughts?

Yep. I have always had cats their are curious about gross things. I've always closed it before flushing to keep them from needing baths and the splashing just seems gross.
