Women used that "friends" bullshit when I was dating back in my 20s. I'm much older now, but still don't completely understand it. Do they legit think that's something we'd want? Do they seriously think that the money, time, energy spent is because we like to hear stories about their makeup, or what they read in cosmo, or what they're doing with their girlfriends? I think you could be friends with a woman in a very different context, e.g. they have the same hobby and you hang out at some group of other people with the same hobby, or she is with other friends who you get together with as a group regularly, where it's never one-on-one.
