I know we're not supposed to downvote misinformation here, but I'm getting tired of so much of it on the front page here.

The flu is caused by influenza, not by a corona virus.

That said, I don't disagree with the premise of your assertion, but when people here read things like this and use it in daily conversation, it makes our side (anti covid vaccine) sound uneducated and misinformed.

The naming of these bugs/diseases is kinda arbitrary. I guess influenza tends to denote that the infection has lower respiratory involvement and is therefore more serious. Then there are particular species of virus like Influenza A and Influenza B that have been classified officially as “influenza” but theyve been using the term for longer than they have known viruses exist.

Now they will use the term “influenza-like illness” as a catch-all. But I think the distinctions are a little bit bullshit because obviously covid19 is from a “cold” category but is causing a “flu” disease. Obviously its important to identify virus species correctly when you are treating an epidemic. But when you’re speaking colloquially about something that got you congested and stuffed up and feverish, it really doesn’t matter. This is just another retarded hoop elites make you jump through that doesn’t mean anything.

The word is from the italian for “influence”, I suppose because they thought you were under the influence of an evil spirit, haha. Its a superstitious term to begin with. I wouldnt sweat it.

... it's common knowledge that influenza causes the flu. That's the worst part. If we're going to talk technically about this in a meme and categorize things to help our side Persuade others, it's terribly important to get it right. It matters.

Think of all of the beautiful white women with no male influence in Thier life going to get this shot because no one was able to talk about it with them intelligently.

Thats like saying “We all need to start saying People of Color instead of Black because people will think we’re stupid.” Or “It’s commonly agreed on by experts that gender is non-binary”. We are talking about social constructs. Whether I call covid a cold or a flu is just a choice. “Cold” has a mild connotation. Some people have had very mild cases. Im totally okay with covid being call a bad flu because that is essentially what I think it is.

If Im speaking technically Ill specify that Im talking about influenza A or SARS Cov 2 or a positive sense single-stranded RNA nidovirus.

If any mid-tier libtard normie comes at me with that “ignorance” shit, I feel confident that my knowlege on the subject far exceeds that of the average joe. Very confident.

Think of all the handsome strapping white men that dont have a woman like me to explain all this shit to them. Thats why Im here, to help you guys. Im fielding questions all day, if you want to know more about covid or vaccines or just how the world works in general.

Flu typically includes gastrointestinal symptoms. Colds do not. This makes it easy to tell them apart.

Flu does not necessarily imply gastro symptoms. Influenza A and B may cause gastro symptoms in children but rarely in adults. Rhinovirus is a cold virus that can potentially cause diarrhea and is transmitted by the oral/fecal route.

“Stomach flu” is usually caused by rotovirus or norovirus which are not that closely related to influenza A,B, or C. I dont have any problem calling any of these flu.

Mmmmm... No.

There was never a push to create a vaccine against the common cold, for obvious reasons. It mutates too quickly.

The flu vaccine is laughably ineffective, at least some years; but influenza is not a coronavirus, it's a different sort of virus.

There have been problems developing vaccines against other diseases caused by coronavirus, though. SARS is the most notable. Those vaccines had severe, potentially lethal side-effects.

But the stupidity in this meme just glossed over all that. Thanks.

As a result of the covid epidemic, I did a lot of research on different viruses and antivirals and vaccines. I really learned a lot. Silver linings.

I now know that my understanding of infectious viral diseases was incorrect before this whole episode.

There’s a cure for the common cold. There’s a cure for the flu. There has been for ages. Theres dozens of antivirals that will kill or inhibit a whole bunch viral illnesses because most viruses have a set of common activities that can be targeted and surpressed by drugs.

Hydroxychloroquine and other antimalarials. Alot of antibiotics like doxycycline and azithromycin. Ivermectin. Many others. These are all drugs that will kill cold viruses and covid and the flu and will work well in surpressing other viruses that cause AIDS and Dengue fever and Ebola and West Nile and Zika. There are just a ton of broad spectrum antivirals that will work on a crap-load of flu like illnesses. I recently discovered tagamet kills wart viruses as well as small pox.

I suspect they are holding back the use of a lot of good drugs for various diseases like cancer because the system is just totally corrupt and in the thrall of big pharma. We have just finally seen how corrupt for the first time because of the covid outbreak. It took this disaster to see that they are not practicing good science. They are demented and evil.
