I agree and see both sides of the coin.
I unfortunately don't have any ideas on how to fix it. I certainly don't want an echo chamber of just a few of us agreeing with each other. I also want newfags to come, discuss, and maybe learn something new that is being hidden from them.
I'd be interested in hearing any ideas you have to a solution.
I'd say poal ppl already do this better than any other media site, but when someone's being a fucking moron people need to call it out
I try to, but then I see the 5th flat earth claim if the day and at some point it gets old. But I think there's value in collectively dismissing stupid shit instead of letting it collect and build
The goal is to get the critical mass all to go in the right direction (rationality). As long as that works, then the newfags can learn and we just deal with stupid shit as it comes
If we fail to have critical mass go the right way, this site degenerates into reddit. Then it won't matter that we have freedom cuz the value will be drowned out by shit
I don't think this site will degenerate the way Reddit did. The problem with Reddit is that they censored. I left that platform when they cut FPH. I didn't even browse FPH but I knew they'd be coming for anything else that hurt people's feelings, even if no laws were broken.
I'm not sure if we've seen a true free speech platform stick to it's values and stay online. I think shadow banning is the dumbest fucking shit. I'm relatively confident (at this time) of Poal. We'll see how this goes. I'll DM you if I find an alternative if this place seems to be going down.

I don't think Poal will ever gain the critical mass of users in order to become reddit, but then again I never thought reddit would become what it became.
It's crazy to think that maybe the web will soon be dominated by yet another orthogonal mindset than its current clearly defined landscape
