So they walked on the moon 12 times, let alone went to the moon more times than that, and didn’t even think about adjusting the cameras to get a picture of the stars.

Right......

Or, more obvious and logical explanation, they knew that they couldn’t simulate the starscape from 240,000 miles away, would have made an obvious mistake that would have been spotted by amateur astronomers, and so saved the effort by making a weak and dumb excuse that people still repeat on the internet 50 years later.

Unfortunately they as government can make stupid excuses and anyone who doesn't believe will be labeled freak, loony, conspiracy theorist or in some cases will be put away to rot in jail as terrorist or some other made up bullshit.

The star scape from the moon should be identical when dealing with the resolutions those cameras could produce. The parallax is absurdly less than exists simply from the Earth's own orbit, and even that doesn't produce enough that it would be noticed.
