there was a well-done scene in the walking dead that has stuck with me, when carol discovers a young girl she has taken a motherly role with, lizzie has been feeding and caring for a walker. carol is obligated to do the responsible thing euthanizing the naive child with a bullet to the head for the security and survival of the group. i can’t help but see the parallels witnessing friends and family usher in the snake and flushing everything down the shitter for fear of being perceived as bad people.
