But it's well established that fluoride has no nutritional value to the body. On top of that, its proponents have produced no peer-reviewed studies showing ingestion of fluoride is preferable or even safe.
We have plenty of evidence that fluoride isn't great. From warnings on toothpaste tubes and mouthwashes to decent drops in calcium and magnesium levels following overconsumption. Fluoride also inhibits enzyme activity, interferes with the body's use of essential nutrients eg calcium and iodine, increases stress from free radicals. Fluoride is clearly antagonistic to the body's biochemistry. Fluoride accumulates in teeth, bones, other critical areas like the pineal gland, over ingestion of fluoride has actually lead to symptoms akin to arthritis and hypothyroidism. This is clearly demonstrated by fluoride's effective treatment of HYPERthyroidism.
Aside from all of that let's just talk about what fluoride is- more often than not a byproduct of phosphate and metal manufacturing. A byproduct that is classified as toxic waste by the EPA. A product that is bought by municipalities and magically converted from toxic waste to something safe for human consumption.
When citizens learn this they get upset. That's why some municipalities have stopped fluoridation and that number is growing, many never started fluoridation.
But if you wanna be a good goy and keep drinking the byproduct of aviation manufacturing, be my guest.
I didn't say it was good for you. I was just answering why they say not to swallow toothpaste but say drinking fluoridated water is OK.
Aside from all of that let's just talk about what fluoride is
Fluorine is an element. . Fluoride is an anion of Fluorine.
But drinking fluoridated water isn't okay? It's literal industrial waste.
Instead of looking at it through an insidious lens, I find it better to just look at the greedy aspect of it.
It's pretty costly and time-consuming to dispose of toxic waste.
But if you cite the superficial benefits of fluoride on dental health you can sell your byproduct to the stupid public officials that eventually add it to your water. You've just made a decent profit off of something that was going to cost you.
Water fluoridation literally confers no benefits.

An element can't be a byproduct because you can't manufacture elements except for with a nuclear reaction. It can be a contaminant, though.
