Even better question: why does anybody want the government to control anything when they can't even manage a fucking retirement account without becoming insolvent
Social Security is not a retirement account. You don't pay in and then collect what you've paid in. It's a pyramid scheme. You're paying for the benefits of people who are now retired. The people working when you're retired are supposed to pay for you. It falls apart when the population isn't growing fast enough to keep the scheme going.
It doesn’t fall apart. If population growth slows down all you need to do is import armies of unskilled negroes and arabs with absolutely nothing to contribute to society to prop the system up. A few extra million invasive dependents is all a faltering Ponzi scheme needs to survive.
