according to Aristotle in the Metaphysics, woman is a being radically different from man, a ‘matter informed by man’. Woman is a ‘monster’, and ‘only man can tend toward perfection’. For Plato, woman is a human being, but ‘infantile’, closer to children than to men; she is not ontologically different, as for Aristotle, but is inferior.
