Reminds me of Jack from Lord of the Flies. He kept creating new rules and then inflicted punishment on those who broke them.
I recently had an argument about Chris Langan's CTMU (reality model), which essentially describes reality as "Language". A critic essentially stated that Language was insufficient to model reality.
Let this sink in for a bit: "LANGUAGE IS INSUFFICIENT TO MODEL REALITY."
The critic was using Language to make reality-theoretic claims about the insufficiency of Language to model reality.
Essentially, the critic's model of reality has no generic Language except his own.
The sheer self-contradiction aside, the critic appeared to have NO CLUE they were DICTATING terms while simultaneously suggesting generic terms were invalid. Somehow the Language used by the critic was universal, but Language in general isn't?
Whenever they're not playing the victim, narcissist/sycophant people are constantly dictating terms. They can't fathom themselves as anything but sheer dictator of the universe, and since they typically have no real power, they just emulate whomever they think has the most power in their community.
