Her childhood was stolen in a way, by her parents. Sure, she had a relatively decent life compared to the shitskins in this picture, but her mind was riddled with anxieties of the apocalypse, not because of government policies but because her parents crammed this doomsday narrative into her skull from a young age. Imagine growing up and you parents consistently taught you that one day when you least expected it that the boogey man was going to jump out and tear your limbs off and eat you. You’d eventually outgrow that particular belief intellectually, but the damage on your psyche would outlive your beliefs.
