Regarding that, they used to ask upon renewing driver licenses if you want to become or still be marked as an organ donor, but they are forbidden from asking the question anymore. You must specifically bring it up that you do not want to be marked as one or that you no longer wish to continue to be marked as one.

Also, do not rely on the person behind the desk to properly set it as 'not an organ donor' even if you say for them to. Always check the summary screen when they say to verify the information is accurate before proceeding as it may still be marked as organ donor even after telling them you do not/no longer wish to be one.

Even then there is no guarantee. As they made it so your license is mailed to you now instead of created immediately there (for 'security and privacy'), check it after you receive it in the mail that it doesn't have that little 'heart' icon/Organ Donor mark on it. Be prepared to have to do it all again to get it fixed and reprinted, possibly more than once.

And that of course assumes that any EMTs, hospitals, doctors and everyone else involved with your body while you are both alive or dead will respect your wishes or that their documents also show you as not being an organ donor (especially if you had been marked as one at some point in the past before changing it). There is a big industry in organ harvesting, as well as 'medical cadavers'. I've seen many times where some person's body was on a slab in a medical school that was supposed to be in a cemetery/grave yard on the other side of the country, or even in a different country altogether.
