But can he drive a bigrig nig?
Yes, they have those too. I realize that there is more to trucking than pulling the trailer down the road, but you need to realize that 99% of the time spent is pulling the trailer down the road. They can easily have the shipper and receiver handle the rest.
The thing is that they could do it as you say, but until the failure rate of self driving cars/trucks is significantly lower (at least an order of magnitude lower) it's not going to be deployed widely, because every failure means someone's dying (or many someones). Right now people aren't ready to accept that as the price of doing business, but eventually lobbying will make it tenable to politicians to allow.
And it will never be good enough that it has zero failures.
Maybe you haven't realized but most peoples opinions are entirely shaped by media. They will accept whatever they are told to accept. It will be sold as "much safer than human drivers" and people will chear it on no matter how dangerous it is because all the accidents will be censored and minimized, just like they are doing for the vax.
The vax is literally worse than the virus and most people are in favor of it and some are fanatical and want it forced on everyone. If they can do that they can replace most truckers by thier 2030 depopulation date.
