Please read in the voice of Richard Attenborough. -Someone once said to me, that at the end of days, it’s the deer will be all that’s left. A stealthy fawn can blend into the grasses and the light, dead leaves of the forest floor. But, in a flash, BANG! They spring and can be at full speed with a few kicks of its powerful hind legs. That’s the usual image we have of the fast, and timid deer. But they hide a secret. A disturbing, and gory secret. Deer are omnivores. They will eat small birds, mice, and other meat when they can find a source. That’s where our worlds meet. Deer have been caught, literally with their mouth in the cookie jar. A game camera snapped a series of pictures of a deer with a bone in its mouth, chewing away. It turned out to be,.....a human rib bone. With a thirst for human blood, they gorge themselves, feasting on our flesh, and gnawing on our bones, making themselves fat on our livers and bone marrow. A killer like none other in the animal kingdom. Not on land, in the water, or on the wind. Normally, they’re solitary except for mating season. But, they will gather secretly when a human is on the menu. Their favorite meal, savored over a period of a few days. Each will eat it’s fill while the other deer wait patiently. Not fighting amongst themselves, it’s almost like it’s a truce while they wait for their turn, hoping a rib bone or 2 will be left for a lucky, late diner. Nothing will remain, but a few scattered teeth and some tufts of hair. Savage and beautiful, the deer looks like innocence has taken this gentle form. But, like many things in nature, looks can be deceiving. And, they can’t wait to eat you. Edit: spelling
