This idea that since he is a descendant of the Tribe of Judah that he's a jew is nonsense. The judeans were not of Judah and were of the Edomites. Pilate was using irony when he wrote 'Jesus of Nazareth, King of the jews', kind of like 'Queen Victoria of England, Empress of India'. Jesus grew up in Nazareth in Galilee. Christ visited Jerusa-lem, but spent most of His life in Galilee.
