Amish are fine neighbors. My dad always comments when visiting how nice and tidy the Amish farms are. Driving with buggies on the roads is a pain tho.
And then you see all the buttermilk cartons on the backroads, and realize that they're swearing at you in Swiss German whenever you're in one of their shops.
They treat their horses worse than garbage.
Ah yea, the horses are not treated well. Ha as I’m typing this, a regular size buggy with two horses just rolled by.
They're not good stewards of the land, they'll work it to death for farms. They're notorious for timbering land by just cutting down the good stuff, not replanting, and just leaving everything else laying around like trash. It makes things look bad and gives a great place for fires to start.
Never liked dealing with them. Used to run deliveries for a supply store in goat roper land, they'd just ignore you when you tried to make your rounds because you weren't part of the order and it was costing them money (even though they're the ones that ordered the stuff.)
