It was certainly timed and planned, and maybe the little girl was in on it, but the reactions from the crowd look to me like real, spontaneous reactions of joy and delight, and not the just the children among them. Prepared? Sure, of course it was, but the event was a surprise for everyone in the square who wasn't part of it.
