My ancestors (Ulster Irish) were the original "red necks". They would wear a red scarf when going into any kind of battle to help them identify their fellow brethren. (War or just a good ol' neighborhood brawl.)

People assume that "red neck" is from the farmer's tan, but that isn't the origin. It was an ethnic slur against the Ulster Irish. So, if you can use "red neck", then I can use "nigger". Fair? :)
