Thanks.
Made an archive of the vid8 video, but it still wouldn't play even from archive.org's page.
Instead of downloading and doing it all locally, I re-encoded it remotely from the vid8 page and archived that re-encoded version and it now plays fine for me.
Adding the archive if it might be useful to anyone else that the video might not play for:
- archive on-page (stretches): https://web.archive.org/web/20240327152747/https://files.catbox.moe/51kkb1.mp4
- archive direct (at resolution): https://web.archive.org/web/20240327152747if_/https://files.catbox.moe/51kkb1.mp4
That's odd. I'm be interested to know if anyone else is experiencing the same issue.
No problem here..
Still frame here also, Waterfox on Linux. Downloaded and played it locally.
Waterfox (Mozilla based) has been giving me mixed results with playing media. It’s most probably related to the video codec not being properly handled/recognized.
Same, waterfox too. Usually happens on vids with very high bitrate (>6k), it's kinda weird. I guess this one just had some funky encoding that the browser didn't like, because it played fine on chromium and MPC-HC.
Might be an issue with how Mozilla based browsers handle HW decoding.
