Recently there has been increasing news that the Italian Army is employing jews as interpreters and that fleeing jews from Croatia are not only taken in by the Italians, but also supported in every way. The Croatian police headquarters in Sarajevo recently reported that jews returned to Sarajevo with Italian troops on Italian vehicles, from where they had recently had to flee and are now under the special protection of the Italian army. Two jews who were arrested in Sarajevo because they had fled from Sarajevo to join the insurgents in the fall of 1941 were equipped with Italian passports. A statement that the Italian General Amico recently made is representative of the Italians' pro-jewish attitude. He literally said: "The laws of the Croats against the jews are strict; those of the Germans are even stricter. Sending the poor refugees to Ragusa and jews back to Sarajevo would mean sending the jews to their deaths."
