Zinc interferes with viral RNA replication. Doxy treats viral pneumonia, which is a common in moderate to severe holocough cases. It also has a strong binding affinity for sars-cov-2 proteins, along with Ivermectin. Besides age, one theory for the unfortunately low death rate in Africa is mass treatment with Ivermectin. The FDA is full speed ahead on vaccines and immunity passports, but hasn't formed a task force for existing drug repurposing. Really activates the almonds.
Does doxy actually treat the virus or does it treat infections secondary to the virus?
Yes, research has shown that doxy interferes with viral entry, lowers IL-6 inflammation (cytokine storm), and is a zinc ionophore, (like chloroquine and quercetin.) I remember reading about ivermectin being a zinc ionophore as well, but not sure if true.
