Its such a shanda. This is some wacky holiday honoring some old rabbi from the second century who supposedly wrote part of the Kabballah even though the Kabballah wasn’t written for about another thousand years. Details.
Anyway this famous rabbi said he had a big secret he was going to reveal on the last day of his life or something and then he turned in to a big glowing light.
And so in memoriam they set a lot of bonfires on this day. And occassionally burn down a few houses.
Supposedly they had 10x more people than they were supposed to at this shin dig. They just do not think the rules apply to them even when its jews making the rules.
