In my libertarian days I would've welcomed this as giving people a choice--freedom--to die how they want. But now I'm not so sure. Having an easy and socially acceptable method of suicide is sure to lead to more suicides. What's even more disconcerting is there can be pressure to suicide by family members or institutional pressure by doctors and nurses. It's easy to get older folks to agree to anything as long as you act friendly and ask leading questions. With the demographic cliff approaching there is incentive to get rid of old folks.
I am not so sure. Old folks are a cash cow for insurance companies, doctors, and lawyers. Lots of different revenue streams, depending on wealth of the person, medical conditions, etc. Of course there are shitty kids who want daddy's money and dad might fall off his scooter into a suicide pod by accident but I do see this being marketed at whites and middle aged people. Maybe even with propaganda like "debt is wiped out when you die" or "life got you down...you can get a fresh start" with some propaganda with the church supporting an afterlife.
