Distinguishing between bots and humans is rising in importance as AI continues to change the tech industry. Using biometric data, as Worldcoin does, is one potential solution — although the challenge for the company will be overcoming privacy concerns.
We learnt decades ago that biometric data like fingerprints and iris scans cannot be relied on for identity verification. Attackers will eventually figure out how to fake it—probably by capturing whatever is scanned. Once an attacker is able to impersonate your biometrics the system is useless. If someone captures your iris scan you can’t change to a new one.
