I look at CERN as a money laundering boondoggle, a technology that greatly interests the more nepharious "thought leaders" of the world who have alternative ambitions to what is officially published, and a scientific experiment that produces very small advances (relatively useless knowledge) in science at incredible cost.
That shows how little you know about physics and the pursuit to understand it. Your logic implies we should not waste any time, money or resources to expand our abilities. We'd still be sleeping on the ground and gathering berries if our ancestors thought the same way. White men explore the universe and conquer new grounds. Why do you want to denigrate the advances of White men and make us into feral aborigines? Be proud of the White man's accomplishments. We wouldn't be communicating right now if White men didn't put time, money and resources into discovery. You benefit from that spirit of discovery every moment of your pampered life. Evil men will always abuse ingenuity, but that does not negate the worth of that innovation and knowledge. Go sleep on the hard ground and gather berries if you think this is all worthless. And buy some more merch from Trump's store since that is so much more valuable than the spirit of White discovery and conquest.
Not exactly. I had a full college engineering education including physics and math. I embrace the useful physics knowledge we have accumulated.
What I don't understand is the current race to find the "God Particle". Why? For what purpose? How will it help Mankind - or will it help a very few to enslave Mankind? True, these are the things I don't understand. I do understand boondoggles, grift, moneylaundering, Human greed and the insanity of a select few to control every aspect of this world.

If we can unlock the mysteries of mass and gravity, we can develop the technologies needed to expand our exploration well beyond Earth and our solar system. We can become a space-faring race and free ourselves of the limitations of our home world. Even on Earth, counteracting gravity would lead to advances in all manner of things. Travel is one area that would benefit from eliminating the energy theft caused by gravitation. We could build like never before and even heal ourselves better by reducing the effects of gravity on our damaged bodies. The possibilities are vast. The abuses of such technologies are also vast, but that goes for any and all technologies we have already. We shouldn't limit ourselves because some jews will abuse it or profit from it. Instead we should use it to control or eliminate that evil. We conquered fire despite its evil uses and we advanced because of it. Knowledge is power and White men with power are unstoppable.
It all sounds great. Lots of promises in that list of mysteries. Our society is not ready for much of it. We're still relying on petroleum and coal for energy - other presumably known solutions are quietly stashed in a dark file drawer such that what we must rely on these known sources of energy such that society can be manipulated by it as deemed necessary by those who wish to retain their power and control. We haven't even brought Nikola Tesla's brilliance to the masses after 100 years. In my mind, that would be what I would initially focus on. Mankind/society can then evolve incrementally in order to incorporate more solutions that have been kept from us, then pursue that which has yet to be attained.
I guess I'm of the mindset that humanity must shed the shackles of the evil that lives among us and utilize the hidden knowledge we already have before we discover new, much more powerful forces that could allow that evil to permanently enslave mankind.
Why is it so important to those running the LHC to run their experiment during a solar eclipse? In my mind in the physical world I don't think the results would differ from yesterday or tomorrows results. They apparently believe there is a spiritual side to the LHC, a pathway to other dimensions or realms. I don't trust these people with control of anything.
