Watches are a pinnacle of white ingenuity. Forget the time aspect. Smart honkeys 500 years ago decided that they could build complex mechanical machines of insanely detailed precision out of teeny tiny bits of glass and metal and precious gems and they DID. Then they said "hey you know what sucks? Winding watches. Let's make them PERPETUAL MOTION MACHINES." And they fucking DID. Where do you think the computer or the automobile come from? Watches were and are the height of white European ingenuity.
Correct sir. An automatic watch is fucking amazing and 1000 years from now in West Africa they will still burn dung to repel mosquitoes and tell time.
But by then they will invent strapping the dung to their wrist and say they invented the wristwatch
I would argue astrological clock and the astrolabe would be the better time pieces.
My watch can tell me where your astrolabe is and cook me waffles and it's powered by wind energy and spite.
But can it tell you where other stars are in relation to Polaris?
