Copped a silver dial Corum Admiral's Cup 4 or so months ago. I snapped the crown off of my blue dial Admiral's Cup, so I swapped links off the brafelt of that one so I can wear my silver one. Saving money to get the blue one serviced, but no one seems to have extra links for that model, so I may just put the $1000 or so it will cost for full service to enjoying another watch (Even though I really love that one)

A lot of watch collectors annoy the shit out of me for various reasons. One main reason is that they hoard their watches in a safe like a Jew and never wear them. Some of these guys are investors hoping to flip them and others are just autist nancyboys who want fret over scratches or want to be able to show a flawless watch. The other main group of collectors who piss me off are the flighty, woman-like collectors who get easily bored of their watch or treat a watch like a teenager treats a smartphone whereby they always have to have the latest thing

So, I intend to keep my Corums. I have had my broken one for 3 years now. It is just a 16 year-old watch that I beat it up too much. If I could find parts, I'd fix it right now.

In other news, I have been waitlisted since around March for another Rolex. What Rolex is doing to customers is very frustrating and has already driven a small subsection of their customer base to other similarly priced lower-to-mid tier luxury brands like Omega and Grand Seiko. If I cannot get the Rolex I want in the next 2-3 months, I'll jut plunk down the money on a used one or a new Grand Seiko or maybe a Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso Grande Date. In less ambitious purchases, after I square away the Rolie (or GS/Jaeger), I will likely get a Glycine Airman DC-4 as a beater. I already have a great G-Shock G-Steel I was using as a beater, but it broke on me, as well. That really pisses me off because I only got about 18 months of ue from it and I bought it new.

Tried to get into watches, I think they're pretty darn sharp. Two issues forced me to stop wearing them. First one is I prefer metal bands, but my skin doesn't. Most metal bands contain some amount of nickel, which fucks my skin up. There are nickel-free high end gold ones or platinum ones... afraid of losing them through daily use due to the extreme cost. I didn't want anything to do with leather or cloth bands. Secondly, I work on electronics. After frying two or three boards by shorting leads with the metal watch band on accident, I sadly had to give up watches.

Damn. That’s a sad story since you really like watches.

Does Titanium contain Nickel? A lot of Grand Seikos have Titanium cases and bands. Also, there are a few brands that are now combining steel and ceramic in their bracelets as a new, proprietary material (don’t even know how this is possible).

A quick search says that there are nickel-free titanium bands, but also titanium alloys containing nickel out there. Suppose I'd have to search for explicitly nickel-free, should be able to find something.

Look at Seiko and Grand Seiko. And Credor. Maybe try one on somewhere and talk to the people in the shop. Also, look into steel/ceramic hybrids. Breitling and I think Rado are amongst the brands who do that. Not sure if that excludes nickel.

Apparently, Grand Seiko uses their own form of Grade 5 Titanium. This is what Grade 5 is:

Titanium Grade 5 is the most commonly used Titanium worldwide and is the most commonly used alloy in the oilfield. Titanium Grade 5 is an alloyed titanium and is considered to be an alpha-beta alloy. Titanium Grade 5 is alloyed with 6% Aluminum and 4% Vanadium and is commonly known as Ti 6Al-4V.

Also, an informative thread about Titanium and hypoallergenic metals in Seikos:
