I love a good sead weller. Your grandkids will be wellin seads with that thing.

My daily is a Bulova that was a work gift. Nothing fancy but it looks nice.

I think you're making fun of me posting after a couple scotches :)

I inherited my grandfather's bulova when I graduated college. It was what he wore every day of his professional life, and is really what got me interested in watches. The things he'd done with the watch on his wrist....

Watches are neat. I don't think I've looked at mine to know the time in 15 years, but I don't wear it for the time anymore. It's history and ingenuity and precision and craftsmanship and jewelry

How do you feel about fountain pens? That’s another anachronistic technology that I really appreciate…. In an age of digital everything, it’s almost therapeutic to fill a pen and capture thoughts using cursive writing in a notebook.

Any Rolie is desirable to me, but I much prefer the DeepSea James Cameron with the transition dial. I also would prefer to see your watch on the original Oyster bracelet. I know I am probably in the minority of watch guys, but I can't stand leather straps and natos are only a little better to me. Still very nice, though. You can probably beat the hell out of that thing on a coral reef and it will still tell time 30 years later.

I agree that the dial on the james cameron looks cool, but the size was too much for me. It was the same thing as with the Panerai...just too much for my scrawny wrists. That, and I appreciate the maxi dial of the 116600. It just works for me.

As for the strap, yeah - it's an older photo. I've had it back on the bracelet for a while now, but do appreciate the variety. And yes, i wanted a good watch that I could wear without fear as I drag my growing kiddos through this and that. The SD was a perfect option - great pedigree, robust as hell, and something I can pass on.
