Now that’s sexy.

I considered the White Birch, but I’d probably still go with the (211?) Snowflake. I would NOT shit on anyone for almost any Grand Seiko selection. They’re making some nIce GMT’s, too. My complaint is that most models only have a 39 or 40 case size.

I love the snowflake, but probably can’t get one now. I saw a red one the other day. It was a LE of 390, and was amazing. After that, the rest would look just okay.

I agree about GS in general, they make great watches, and really seem to be getting the recognition they deserve. As much as I like the GMTs, I think the Rolex win out….

With Rolex you’re getting more resistance to scratches and dings. The movements are both in-house and may or may not be comparable—depending on the models. However, IMO, the dials and polish/finish of tge GS brand as a whole are superior to Rolex. That shit is all hand finished with a special, Japanese artisanal technique. These people are PRIDEFUL when it comes to their work. One thing about Rolex is that their service centers worldwide are superior. I have had a couple of horror stories in Youtube about GS service centers here in America. I suspect in Japan it is much better.

I don't know shit about watches. I couldn't wear anything that expensive in my line of work. What's the drawback with 39 or 40 case size? I'm assuming that's diameter in mm?

Yeah. 39mm/40mm refer to case sizes. In the 50’s and 60’s 36mm was kind of a standard and by the 2010’s 39/40 wws kind of the standard. However, with the popularity of Panerai, Bell and Ross, Rolex and other sports watches with larger case, you’re starting to see a push towards 41/42 as a norm and indeed there are some monstrous 50mm or so cases. I’m 6’7”, so I find my sweet spot to be 42-44mm, but I have 40’s that look alright. Anything smaller (like my Dad’s watches) don’t really look too flattering.

Wow - 6’7. Yeah, you can pull off the bigger ones. My scrawny wrists are dwarfed by the larger sizes.

Here’s my old 44mm PAM 390…. I wore it for a while before conceding to reality.
