if i drink weak beers, i never get drunk. i spend so much time pissing that i cant simply drink fast enough to finally get the buzz i am looking for. so i use stronger stuff, and drink as fast as i can until FINALLY all worries subside and i am ready to sleep..

Never had Coors. will check in my special shop if i find some here in europe.

Best beer i had in recent times was "Aventinus". 8.7% ... its like drinking caramelized bread soup XD

Bread soup for the win!!

Coors almost certainly doesn't travel and age well. It's basically a pretty decent pilsner made with really really clean water. I detect none of that rice sugar disgustingness in it, either. I HATE that. It makes American budweiser pretty much undrinkable. Among many other terrible brews.

Otherwise, most of my faves are Pacific Coast USA IPAs, which are really strong and excellent but I get all drunk because I can't stop drinking them because I like them so much. Much like Scotch. No more Scotch aboard, after that last time I drank pretty much a whole bottle of the stuff before a huge storm blew up and fucked up my jib because I was too drunk to figure out how to fix my sails in that condition. But that's another story...

yeah clean water is like the most important part of a beer! many forget that!

theres ancient breweries where i come from, and two of them are run by the same guys, the same methods, everything the same. One of the breweries is located in the mountains, one is located in a big city 200 miles away from the mountains.

the difference in taste is shocking!

aaah, dude... sailing in the Pacific??? now im jealous!

no chance i can afford any such adventures until i am retired =( wrong side of the Planet, i guess =)

you know "the old seadog"

Oh, man! What a cool vid!

I got me a really excellent windlass for this boat. The previous owner was a big massive super strong dock worker, and he somehow just pulled all that chain and the big old anchor up by hand. I could just not do that, even with crew. I tried so hard! We both did! We ended up improvising with the main winches [old and lame and unique to Cheoy Lee, so kind of Chinese and retarded, but they work a charm nonetheless, so I have kept them, despite the recent WestMarine 50% off winch sale...] But anyway, I found this super nice old jobby for sale from a friendly local Frenchman who was selling off lots of old gear for cheap. It's fully gear driven, and fully up to the task of pulling up all my chain and anchor with little drama. I engineered it;s installation to pretty much be able to handle the weight of the entire boat, and it;s one of the few jobs I did right and am proud of, even if the old windlass is covered with ruined shitty paint from previous owners and looks absolutely terrible. I had to make a handle for it, but with that handle, it is SUPER EASY to pull up hundreds of feet of chain AND an anchor.

Damn, come sailing with me someday! Hopefully it;ll be one of those days after I;ve gotten all the varnish and paint sorted again. She sails best in super shitty weather, and is remarkably fast.

What was that Contessa that won the fastnet race that horrible year? A friend of mine took that shot of us from one of those and we beat him back to the harbor that day with running the motor, although he claimed we did. That would have just slowed us down! She sucks under power! She ROCKS under sail! Especially if the breeze is on the beam, of course. Which it kind of was that day.

Fuck, it's been over 7 years since I had Walkabout's bottom redone. All that paint is gone... and the divers scrub and scrub, making sure to get rid of any remaining paint!

I gotta get hauled out. And my mast is a spruce box-section - that needs to get pulled and fully refinished as well. Of course, I am presently spending my free time between drinking beers refinishing all of that brightwork. Again. At least it;s a good workout.

I gotta sail down there and try those kiwi beers!

It's so dumb, but SO FUN!
