The two Tabasco plants I grew this year seem hotter than he describes. I watched it again and he says 2,500 to 5,000 SHU while the graphic clearly shows 30,000 to 50,000 SHU. My tasting agrees with the latter figures.

Part of me is impressed that they rigorously protect their brand name, but it also kind of pisses me off that it stifles expansion of commerce and we miss out on other tasty sauces. Looking forward to making my own sauce with them more now.

Yeah my experience with Tabasco puts it around jalapeno level. 5000 is like a mild Anaheim. Tabasco is way hotter than that.

Would love to try a thick hot sauce made of Tabasco, especially after your description of the base flavor. The vinegar heavily limits applications
