Dumbed across recipe a while back, and saved it for Independence Day.

1.5 oz brandy (I used a cheap cognac I had on hand) .75 oz Ruby port .5 oz orange liqueur (Grand Marnier) Grated nutmeg garnish

No fruit juice in this one, so I stirred it, strained into cocktail glasses and hit it with a touch of grated nutmeg. To acknowledge the wit of a now forgotten Polar who commented a lot of my shaken cocktails looked like "bean juice" (he wasn't wrong), this is perhaps the most photogenic cocktail I've posted here.

Grand Marnier was perhaps not the best choice for an orange liqueur here. Don't get me wrong - it works well, but it is cognac based and adds a bit of booziness to the equation. It's currently 93 degrees and fairly humid in Duckville, and this thing is kicking my ass. It's a noble pour fitting for our nation's noted flag seamstress, but in this heat it's a touch heavy - definitely a one and done. Still, I'd do this again perhaps in the Fall.

4.0/5 Ducks - will save it for a future breezy and cool November afternoon.

Cheers!
