I've seen this suggested before, that Trump had to mollify the liberals' fervor for gun control by banning something, so he banned something that is not even a firearm. 4D Chess.

But I question that premise as why did Trump have to ban anything? Also, isn't Trump's pick to run BATFE some anti-gun broad?
