Whats really going to bake your noodles is when you realize that given what we officially understand about technology available at the time there is literally NO EXPLANATION for how they knew that shape existed on Saturn. Even today, we struggle to get that resolution from earth based stations. It wasn't until we sent cameras on flyby missions to Saturn that we learned of the perfect geometry of the planet's apparent storm/atmospheric systems.
