I saw a post on Gab about Purina and its umbrella company offshoots making the feed and also doing most of the chicken and egg distribution.

The post stated:

"Tik Tok is blowing my mind with the egg conspiracy. Apparently a lot of farmers noticed their birds slowed or stopped egg production around September/October. A few small local farmers decided to find local feed and change their chickens diets. BOOM. Egg production back on. This one farmer lady looked into the feed that apparently everyone uses and it’s made by Purina. Long story short.…. Purina is owned by Land O’Lakes. Land O’Lakes is in a joint venture partnership with Cal Main foods. Who is Cal Main foods? The largest egg distribution center in America. (Go check your egg cartons, more than likely they’re the distributor) If this is true, Cal Main Foods created an egg crisis by its joint venture with Purina and had Purina create a food that stopped OTHER egg distributors from producing eggs."

It got my INTJ noggin fired up after I remembered that huge dogfood poisoning thing with Purina. If the hens lay after switching feed, it's something in the feed. Shills say hens slow in winter, but the hens lay again after a switch. You're most welcome, interesting account about the garlic, glad it worked out, I do question sometimes the amount of knowledge that is correct, for example here in the UK, most of our vets are completely against a raw diet(I have had vets try and dissuade me even though clearly it sorted out one dogs stomach issues) , we have been through half a dozen vets in the last 2years until we found one that seems to be very good(thankfully). The only other cautions I would give you are to keep a close eye on your dogs weights as and when you start them on it(my one who weighs 24.8kgs and is a huntaway cross , very energetic and has 3-4 hours hard exercise a day and is on 1.5 chubs(1.5lbs) of raw a day and a quarter to half a chicken carcass and he maintains his weight, the other lab/golden retriever has 2 chubs(2lbs raw) and he is at 37.4 kgs, all muscle, no fat but he's a big boy. If your dog is small, I would personally give them chicken carcass in 1-2" squares cut up as smaller dogs can struggle with large pieces of carcass.

The other thing to note here is that(at least in the UK) all of our vets when trained get around 1 whole day on dog nutrition and that is sponsored by one of the large brands and so really it is to be expected how they come down on raw feeding, they get big discounts on selling specialist feeds for dogs with issues. Dogs cannot process grains if you didn't know. If your dogs like raw, I have only experienced positives, my current vet has told me.she has seen both ends of the spectrum with raw and has had dogs come in (rarely) where they can't stop having issues with backsides etc.

Anyway, I will leave you with those thoughts, pros and cons to everything, that said I will never feed my dog a kibble based diet again or buy tinned dog food.

I've other thing, botulism is caused by a bacteria, always thaw frozen dog food in a fridge(takes around 36 hours) for the best chance of no botulism, you can use a bucket of water at a push(I used to add is quicker but you learn more as you get further into it) always change the water if you do it that way and keep it in a cool place not in direct sunlight. Botulism is very very rare, look up the signs and be aware of them. Never refreeze unfrozen food, use it or bin it.
