I was thinking the whole time he was talking we can easily observe earth outside of earth at this point. They could put probe in outer space to look at earth and observe it, or have a rover on Mars take a look at us and see what is going on. But this guy seems convinced for some reason that the earth is in the center of the universe which doesn't really seem right but would make a fun plot for an alternate universe story where the first planet with sentient life originated at the center of the universe
